Empowering women and children of Bangladesh through healthcare and education
About Our Organization
Begum Rokeya Nari O Shishu Shasthya Unnayan Sangstha (BERNOSSUS) has been dedicated to improving the health and wellness of underserved women and children in Dhaka, Bangladesh since 1997 through our community health center in Uttara. BERNOSSUS is a non-profit and non-political registered social welfare organization.
BERNOSSUS’s clinic provides primary care services to thousands of patients, and its multiple community health programs—from cardiovascular health promotion to surgical treatment of cleft lips & palates—aim to make deep and long-term impacts in improving the health of those we serve.
The English translation of “Begum Rokeya Nari O Shishu Shasthya Unnayan Sangstha” is Begum Rokeya Women and Children’s Healthcare Development Organization, named after Begum Rokeya, a prominent Bengali feminist thinker, writer, educator, and activist.
“As long as poverty, injustice, and gross inequality exist in our world, none of us can truly rest.”
